For those of you familiar with back linking strategies you all know the value of an EDU link. And for those of you who may be new to all of this, it’s simply that in placing a link for our site/blog on another highly ranked site such as an EDU can help increase our SERP or search engine page ranking. Why do we want to do this? The better the ranking, the more natural visitors you can draw to your site/blog.

Links from other sites to your site, back links, are seen as a vote of confidence or recommendation from that site. The quality of the site giving the recommendation will obviously have a bearing on our site. EDU sites are looked on as trustworthy and reputable as well as authoritative so a link placed on their site which leads back to our own site can be most valuable.

In looking for EDU sites it is important to remember that not all of them will allow us to leave comments so this can be a bit time consuming, though well worth the efforts when we do locate specific EDU sites that we can post comments on and leave our links. For example, my blog targets readers looking for “marketing strategies” so I typed in that keyword and the search results pulled up a list of EDU sites with blogs and most of these blogs do allow comments. Since “marketing strategies” is also a very broad phrase I can type in any other more specific term such as “article marketing” to draw in even more targeted results.

I found some great sites tonight and left some good comments. One site was from BYU, Brigham Young University, and it was a marketing class blog. Building an email list is essential for internet marketing success. You should also make sure that your squeeze page doesn’t have any “leaks”. Meaning that you prevent your visitors from by-passing your opt-in form to get to your free offer. Since anybody can view you squeeze page’s source code to find the URL of your download page, the best thing to do is to send the download link to your subscriber in your first email to them. So, in order for them to get that link, they’ll have to give up their email address.

Now that you know what a squeeze page is, the next question should be; where, or how do you get one? Your first option is to design one yourself. If you have some familiarity with HTML editors, this could be a viable option. However, this can be time consuming (time that could be spent promoting your money making products), and depending on your skill level, it may not end up looking very professional, or appealing.

You could pay a web designer to make your squeeze pages for you, but unless you know the designer personally, you never know what you’re going to get. Not to mention that you could end up spending a small fortune, as you’re definitely going to need a variety of squeeze pages for different applications and markets.
